Ryan Downey takes the lead in OVO’s outdoor production of “Romeo and Juliet” at the Roman Theatre of Verulamium in St Albans.
A brand-new adaptation, set on the streets of Northern Ireland’s capital in 1998, the year that the Good Friday agreement was signed. From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, a pair of star-crossed lovers take their lives.
Led with movement and live music, this is a high paced, modern take on a timeless classic, showing us that Shakespeare is as relevant today as it’s always been and that a fragile peace is only as durable as opposing sides permit.
Running from 5th June – 29th July 2023
